Biogerontologists study the bodies at old age and seek ways to slow down or reverse the aging process. They are responsible for reviewing the patients’ history and improve their living standards by supporting their physical as well as emotional health quotient. They understand the aging process by studying the behavior of cells, organs and systems. The Biogerontologists analyze the role of environment, food habits and other factors on aging.

Education Requirements:

Biogerontologists are required to possess bachelor’s degree in any science subjects that include genetics, microbiology, biology etc. They must go for maximum laboratory research during the four-year degree program to gain in-depth knowledge and experience in key and sensitive issues.

After completing bachelor’s degree, the aspiring Biogerontologists should go for a master’s degree followed by a Ph.D. to boost their career and profile. Internship or work experience in a biogerontology research laboratory might serve as a big advantage too.

As the number of senior citizens is growing in the United States every passing day, the job outlook for Biogerontologist remains good. They can earn between $60,000 to $100,000 in a year, depending on their nature of job and experience. Some even earn up to $120,000 per annum.
